The Tamron SP 24-70mm f/2.8 Di VC USD and its successor (same name but with G2 at the end) are fantastic lenses, with real cost savings over the equivalent Canon products, and are image stabilized (unlike the equivalent Canon products). In tests, they aren't quite as sharp as the Canon EF 24-70mm f/2.8L lenses are, but it's close enough.
